Christa & Luke Engagement Teaser

Christa and Luke are getting married this summer so we got together this past weekend to capture some engagement photos. It was one of the last cold days of the winter, but that didn’t stop us from finding some great locations in Saskatoon to showcase this gorgeous couple. Here’s a photograph I made to give you a preview of what’s to come. Check back soon for the full spread.

The Cey Family

Melanie and Ryan welcomed their son Alistair into the world seven months ago. And with his personality really starting to come out they thought it was a great time to get some photographs of him. I love doing these types of shoots in the family’s home so I can create images of them in a natural setting where everyone can just be themselves.

It has become a normal thing for me to take my wife along as an assistant when the shoot involves a youngster. She proves to be invaluable in getting the kid’s attention, and has no qualms about dancing or making funny faces. We headed to their downtown Saskatoon loft on a Saturday morning which proved to be an awesome space for the shoot. A big window provided all the natural light we needed.

Alistair was a pleasure to photograph, and I just loved this crazy breakdancing wave thing he did with his arms when he started getting tired. We were able to get a good hour of shooting in before Alistair was fed up with a camera in his face. But that was long enough to get some great shots.

We ended the morning with an delicious brunch that Melanie and Ryan were kind enough to make for all of us. That was pretty awesome of them. Here are some of my favourite photographs from the morning, and be sure to also check out the high definition slideshow to see even more images of this great family.

Alistair just turned seven months old, and his parents thought it would be a great time to capture some photographs of the three of them just hanging out at home. Here’s a teaser image that I captured that Saturday morning. Make sure to check back soon to see more shots of this great family.

The Fenrich Family

With the coming of the autumn season Cheryl and Jason contacted me about having some nice lifestyle photographs taken with their daughter Jorja. Being a year-and-a-half old I knew that I would need some help so I enlisted my wife Michelle as my assistant. It seemed that Jason and Cheryl were thinking the same thing since they brought Jason’s sister Nikki along to help entertain Jorja.

Maybe it was the fresh fall air, but Jorja seemed to have a lot of energy that day so having that extra help really paid off. I spent a lot of time chasing her around to get some cute shots of her playing and interacting with her parents. She was an extremely good sport for the shoot, but started to get a bit irritated with me following her around and pointing a big black camera at her face. This seemed like a good time to focus some attention on the parents. With Michelle and Nikki entertaining Jorja I was able to grab some great photos of just Cheryl and Jason.

I had a fabulous time with the three of them, and was honoured to be given the opportunity to capture family photos for the Fenrichs. Here are some of my favourite photos from the shoot. Be sure to also check out the high definition slideshow to see even more images of this fantastic family.

Jill & Zach Engagement

Posted in lifestyle photography, shoots, wedding photography by Hemant Naidu on October 18, 2010

Jill, Zach and I had a really hard time trying to schedule their engagement shoot. Between their extremely busy lives and the rain filled Saskatoon summer we found ourselves rescheduling the shoot over and over again. It looked like a Sunday in early September was going to finally work for the three of us.

What I hadn’t anticipated when booking that date was that I would be in the middle of installing hardwood floor in our entire house. I remember that particular Sunday looking like it was going to be an awesome day for the shoot so I knew that we wouldn’t be rescheduling again. The shoot was for 5:30 so my father-in-law, my wife who was 32 weeks pregnant, and I raced through laying the nursery floor.

And am I ever glad that we didn’t have to reschedule because the light that day was awesome. Jill and Zach live on an acreage about 20 minutes outside of Saskatoon and that seemed like a perfect place for the shoot. Their place was a photographer’s dream, and with them being the “outdoorsy type”, it was fitting to use as a setting.

In January they will be tying the knot in Maui, Hawaii with about 30 guests making the trip with them. Unfortunately I won’t be going along to shoot the wedding, but I am very grateful that I had the chance to work with this fabulous couple to capture their engagement photos.

Here are some of my favourite photos from our time together. Be sure to also check out the high definition slideshow to see even more images of the two of them.
