Emily and Theo's Second Anniversary

Posted in lifestyle photography, shoots by Hemant Naidu on September 23, 2010

Emily is an English and German high school teacher. Theo runs Unreal City, a comic boutique in downtown Saskatoon. They may sound like they come from different worlds, but I assure you that these two are a perfect match.

They were celebrating their second wedding anniversary this summer and since they never had engagement photos taken it seemed like a good opportunity to capture some images of them. I had a great time shooting them in downtown Saskatoon and in the Broadway area of the city.

Here are some of my favourite photographs from that evening. Be sure to watch the high definition slideshow at the end to see even more of Emily and Theo.

Jill and Zach will be tying the knot in Maui this January, and I had the pleasure of capturing their engagement photos for them. I’ll have the full album up soon, but in the meantime here is a preview shot to whet your appetite.

I had the very unique opportunity to photograph Nicole and Jayesh’s engagement ceremony at the Hindu temple in Saskatoon. The event was filled with tradition, vibrant colours, and lots of food. Here’s one preview image of the ceremony, but stay tuned for a full blog post to arrive shortly.

Saskatoon Photography-Kyler Brooklyn

Posted in newborn photography, shoots by Hemant Naidu on August 26, 2010

May 9th, 2010 was Mothers’ Day and my brother-in-law Chris and his wife received the greatest gift imaginable – a new daughter. Kyler Brooklyn was born in Saskatoon and was a perfect baby girl.

I was super excited when they asked me to take some photos of Kyler a few months later in their Langham, Saskatchewan home. My wife and I spent an evening with the three of them in a nice relaxed setting where I could just take some photographs of her in her natural surroundings.

Like I mentioned in the teaser for this shoot, I love capturing people in a way that showcases their natural beauty, and when I have a chance to do that for members of my family, it’s just that much more special.

Here are some of my favourite photographs from that evening. Be sure to watch the high definition slideshow at the end to see even more of Kyler Brooklyn.

Note: for the best quality make sure HD is set to on along the right side of the video player. Scaling should be set to off.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Posted in inspiration by Hemant Naidu on August 23, 2010

I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that one of my photos inspired someone to write a story/poem about it. I am always flattered when people tell me that they were touched by my work, or that it inspired them in some way. So thank-you Paul, you made my day.

Disclaimer: the author does not personally know Nicole or Jayesh featured in the photo, and the story is purely fictional and does not represent either of them.

“So this is for real, is it?”
”Yes. You weren’t certain at first, were you?”
”Honestly? I was. I didn’t think I was. But I was.”
”You sure made me work for it.”
“I’m worth it.”
“Yes, you are.”
“So what do we do now?”
”Nothing really changes. And everything changes.”
“You’ll be there for me?”
“Always.”
”Always is a long time.”
”I certainly hope so.”
“You’re not the least bit scared? Not the least bit uncertain?”
”No.”
“Really?”
“Really. This is exactly how it’s supposed to be. I know it.”
“What about…”
”Yes.”
“But if…”
”Yes.”
“Maybe someday something…”
”For. Ever.”
“…”
“I know. I don’t know what to say that hasn’t been said.”
“We can do this?”
“Absolutely. You and me – we can do anything. You don’t feel it?”
“I do.”
“I like the sound of that.”
“Me too.”
